The Education Department of the Austin Urban Community Coalition (AUCC) is dedicated to empowering youth through comprehensive educational and developmental programs. Our services include mentoring, college readiness, and post-secondary success initiatives designed to prepare students for higher education and beyond. We offer employment opportunities and training programs to equip young people with the skills needed for successful careers. By fostering a supportive and resource-rich environment, we aim to ensure that every student in our community can achieve their full potential.
The Education P.L.U.S. initiative created for the Austin Urban Community Coalition is a targeted program aimed at addressing the specific educational needs and challenges within the urban community of Austin. The acronym P.L.U.S. stands for Positive Learning, Understanding, and Success. This initiative was designed with several key objectives in mind:
1. Positive Learning: Fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for education.
2. Understanding: Promoting cultural competency and awareness among educators and students to better understand and appreciate the diverse backgrounds within the community.
3. Success: Implementing strategies and providing resources to ensure academic and personal success for all students, particularly those from underserved and marginalized communities.
The Austin Urban Community Coalition (AUCC) is committed to providing tailored mentorship services that cater to the diverse needs and interests of young individuals in our community. Through our "Men's Eye View" program, male students are paired with mentors who serve as positive role models, offering guidance, encouragement, and support to help them navigate the challenges of adolescence and academic life. Our mentors in this program are dedicated to fostering a sense of empowerment and accountability, equipping young men with the tools and mindset necessary for personal and academic success.
For girls passionate about technology and coding, our "GRL Codes" mentoring program offers a unique opportunity to explore and excel in these fields. Female mentors who are experienced professionals in technology provide guidance, mentorship, and hands-on learning experiences, empowering girls to pursue their interests and excel in STEM-related fields. Through GRL Codes, we aim to bridge the gender gap in technology and inspire the next generation of female leaders and innovators.
In addition to these specialized mentorship programs, AUCC offers a wide range of community youth services designed to address various needs and interests. Whether it's academic support, career guidance, leadership development, or personal enrichment, our comprehensive youth services ensure that every young individual in our community has access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. Through mentorship, guidance, and community engagement, AUCC is dedicated to empowering the youth of Austin to reach their full potential and become active, contributing members of society.
